Both central and Northwest Arkansas are represented in the list of semifinalists for the prestigious James Beard Foundation awards that was released Wednesday.

Little Rock’s One Eleven at the Capital, located in the Capital Hotel, is a semifinalist for Best New Restaurant while Chef Matthew McClure of The Hive in Bentonville is a semifinalist for Best Chef: South. McClure was named as a semifinalist in the same category last year.

One Eleven at the Capital, formerly known as Ashley’s, opened in 2014 after a complete dining room makeover. Executive Chef Joel Antunes joined the team in early 2013 and has been building a team of international talent behind-the-scenes ever since. Not familiar with the James Beard Foundation awards? Think of it as the Oscars of the food industry. The semifinalists are chosen in 21 categories from more than 34,000 online entries. Finalists are chosen from a panel of more than 600 judges including restaurant critics, food and wine editors and past award winners.

Finalists will be announced via Twitter in March and awards will be presented in Chicago in May.
