Chuy’s in negotiations for North Little Rock location

While word from BJ’s Brewhouse corporate that a second location is not currently being planned for the Lakewood Village area came as a bummer to many North Little Rock residents earlier this week, there may be some good news on the restaurant front:

Ashley Ingle, director of marketing for Chuy’s, confirmed today that the Tex-Mex chain is currently in negotiations for a site in North Little Rock. A lease has not be signed, so no target opening date, but Ingle says they hope to know more in a few months.

Chuy’s first Little Rock location, located on Chenal Parkway in West Little Rock, opened in May 2013.

Gus’s Fried Chicken to open West Little Rock location

Gus’s Fried Chicken will open a second location in Little Rock, according to a post made to the Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken, Little Rock AR Facebook page Thursday afternoon.

“After a much appreciated response to our first year on President Clinton Ave, we’ve decided to open our second location,” the statement read. “Our Gus’s family is very pleased to announce we’ll be opening in West Little Rock later this summer. We are even more excited to have been able to find such a great location in the space formerly occupied by Buffalo Grill, which operated very successfully as a LR staple for many years. But most importantly, we are thrilled to be able to bring the best fried chicken in the world and our unique southern charm to our current and future fans in the West Little Rock area.”

Owners had not responded to requests for comment on the new location Wednesday, and an exact opening date has not been announced. The first Little Rock Gus’s Fried Chicken location opened in the River Market in May 2013.

Cafe Brunelle open at The Promenade

After what seems like one of the longest stop-and-wait openings I’ve heard of in Little Rock lately, Cafe Brunelle is finally open at The Promenade at Chenal.

The deli and coffee shop was announced more than a year ago with plans to open in fall 2013.

The cafe clocks in at 1,395 square feet and is serving deli sandwiches, soups, salads, pastry and coffee. The space is located behind Lululemon, just off the courtyard at the outdoor shopping area. Look for it to be open from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Sundays.

“We are delighted to announce the wait for a local coffee shop in West Little Rock has come to an end with the opening of Café Brunelle,” said Linda Hinton, general manager of The Promenade at Chenal, in a press release. “Our customers have frequently requested for us to add a coffee café of this caliber to The Promenade. The owner of Café Brunelle has taken great pride in planning and testing his menu and we know our customers will find this to be just what they’ve been asking for.”… Read more >

The team behind Local Lime will open a new concept in The Heights later this year

The team behind Local Lime will open a new concept in the Heights later this year

Brace yourselves, Local Lime fans: Yellow Rocket Concepts will be bringing a new taco concept to the Heights later this year.

The team behind Big Orange, Local Lime and ZaZa announced their newest project, Heights Taco & Tamale Company in a press release Tuesday. The restaurant will be located in the space currently occupied by Brownings.

Scheduled to open in late summer/early fall the menu will include a TexMex-style menu curated by Scott McGehee. Expect burritos, nachos, churros and (as the name implies) tamales. The space will also include a full service bar, with a focus on margaritas and craft beer. Better yet: The release mentions fresh, house-made tortillas, soft serve ice cream and a limited drive-thru menu.

“Working with tamales in our test kitchen last fall inspired me to revisit the recipes my father created during his days as co-owner and co-creator of Blue Mesa Grill and Juanita’s,” McGehee said in a release. “The days spent with him and the food we ate during that time made such a huge impact on me personally and professionally. I’m developing this menu to accomplish several … Read more >
